It's a weekend of high profile fixtures for Westport United with the U.13 boys and the junior team both having high profile matches at United Park this weekend. However, the biggest match of the weekend is the U.16 Girls who make the long trip to Carlow to take on Hanover Harps in the WFAI U.16 Girls Cup with a place in the quarter final at stake.

Considering that the girls were playing Division One football in the U.16 Girls League, this is a huge achievement for Westport United to reach this stage of the competition and on the back of excellent wins against Manulla (1-0) and Conn Rangers (2-1). Their opponents, Hanover Harps have a very good pedigree and are among the most respected sides in the competition.

The winners of this tie are at home to the winners of Freebooters (Kilkenny) or Bohemians (Dublin).

Kick off in Carlow this Sunday is at 2:00 and the club would like to wish the girls the very best of luck and would wish all our supporters travelling a safe journey.
