It was a weekend of brilliance and heroics from our underage teams.

In the Skechers SFAI U.13 Cup last 32, Westport United advanced to the next round against a good Bridge United side. Westport played some lovely football against a side that was pacey on the break. Westport's brilliance was underlined in a 5-2 victory.

The U.16 girls performed heroics against an exceptional Hanover Harps team in Carlow. After taking an early lead, Hanover Harps gained the initiative to lead 2-1. United had a great chance to equalise with a penalty but the spot kick was brilliantly saved. Hanover then made the score 3-1 to seal a win that was flattering, given Westport's heroics but it was an incredible journey for the girls and the future is undoubtedly bright.
