With less than 48 hours to go, the social media team of Westport United FC caught up with one of the ducks taking part in the race. Lucky Ducky took time out to answer a few quacking questions. Here is what Lucky Ducky had to say:

Westport United FC: Thanks for taking time out to chat to us. I heard that you were training really hard for Sunday. Are you all set?

Lucky Ducky: Yes, I've been in the bubble bath all week and I love playing in it and getting all suds over me. I really had great fun swimming in the bath and I look forward to swimming in The Mall on Sunday and I want to see all the boys and girls come out to cheer me on.

Westport United FC: Do you think you will win the race?

Lucky Ducky: Of course I will. Someone went into the bookies and put €10 on me at 7/1, the daft eejit. Haha. Hey man, you know what?? There ain't no duck that will whup my butt and take that from me!!

Westport United FC: If you win the race, how are you going to celebrate?

Lucky Ducky: I'm sure that Don McGreevy will give me a free 99 ice cream if I win. They are the best cones in the land.

Westport United FC: Dr Oliver Whyte may want to interview you if you win. Would you do an interview if he asks?

Lucky Ducky: Sorry mate, don't do videos. I'm camera shy. I might quack the camera.

Westport United FC: Our friends in Denmark has asked us to show the race. Are you excited that people in strange places might be watching you?

Lucky Ducky: Well that's quacking news. Good to know that they will be watching me win the race.

Westport United FC: Are you worried that somebody might shoot you?

Lucky Ducky: Bertie Gannon isn't around anymore, so I think that I'm safe. Really, who would quack a gun at me?

Westport United FC: Rumour has it that Fr Charlie might give you a blessing after Mass on Sunday. Will it help you?

Lucky Ducky: Well God bless us and save us! Really? It's more than a wing and a prayer.

Westport United FC: Let's hear you have the last word on Sunday.

Lucky Ducky: There are lots of my ducky friends that wants to join the race and for €5, you can buy them but you know what, they ain't gonna win but it's for a great cause. The race is on at 1:30 on Sunday and make sure you come to The Mall because it's gonna be a bit of quack. Myself and all my friends are looking forward to seeing you at the race and do not duck out of this.
