Westport United have serious concerns over the fitness of key players ahead of the FAI Junior Cup match against Usher Celtic on Sunday. According to the Mayo News, goalkeeper Gary Cunningham is carrying an ankle injury as is his understudy, Micheal Gibbons, who picked up a knock in the warm up during a friendly last weekend. Peter Corcoran and Cillian McGlade both have hamstring issues while Mark McDonagh (ankle), Joe Lawless (thigh) and David Hoban (glute) are the other injury concerns and there are doubts about their participation on Sunday. Interim manager, Padraig Burns has been working hard to get the team in shape for Sunday in the best possible way that circumstances allow it and knows that such a long injury list is a blow to Westport's aspirations but he knows that the injured players are getting plenty of treatment in the hope that they may be available for selection on Sunday.
Padraig Burns spoke with Ger Flanagan of the Mayo News and believes that it's Westport United's biggest Junior Cup home tie since the 2006 defeat by Killester and gave his thoughts on the build up to the game and he is hoping for a big, big crowd on Sunday.
