Apologies For Not Updating
It has been a very busy few weeks for our underage sides between the new leagues kicking off and some old competitions in the business end.
Looking back on the old competitons briefly, the U.14 team put up a valiant performance against Belvedere FC in the semi final of the Skechers SFAI Cup and bowed out gracefully on a 2-0 scoreline. In the Connaught Cups and Shields semi finals, there was no luck for any of our representatives as our U.12, U.16 and U.18 sides found Salthill Devon, Valley Rovers and Castlerea Celtic too strong for our sides, respectively but Westport United in all three games gave it everything.
Moving onto the leagues, the U.13 team began their campaign with a 2-0 defeat against a strong Castlebar Celtic team but the Westport lads put in a great display. The U.13 B team started off with a great win against Kiltimagh/Knock United B and then had two very tight games against Snugboro and Swinford and in both games of excellent quality, the final score was 1-1. The U.13 C team put in some phenomeonal performances against Ballyhaunis Town, Partry Athletic and Claremorrris B, playing excellent and scoring for fun against sides that really gave Westport a good game and played gallantly. The D team had a great win against Ballyvary Blue Bombers and looked an excellent outfit and they then took on Ballina Town C in a terrific game of football full of thrills and spills with the final score 3-3. The E team got off to an excellent start with two great wins against Conn Rangers B and Ballina Town B and the team played excellently against two very good sides. Moving onto the U.15 League, the U.15 B team played out a cracking 4-4 draw against Ballyvary Blue Bombers in an entertaining game, had an unlucky 2-1 defeat against Ballyheane and put in a brave performance against a very strong Straide and Foxford United side that were just too good on the night. The C team got off to an excellent start with a huge win against a very good Ballina Town B team and that was followed by a great 3-0 win against Snugboro. The D team have got off to an excellent start with impressive wins against Kiltimagh/Knock United B (3-0 on both occasions) and two 2-0 wins against strong Glenhest Rovers and Claremorris C teams.
