How we can help our own community
This is an appeal to everyone involved in our club no matter what the role to help one of the most important groups in our community to continue providing meals for the most vulnerable people in our locality.
The Meals on Wheels organisation in Westport needs our help. It needs YOUR help. Over the last few weeks the demand on the organisation has grown each day. People who would normally have their meals prepared for them or delivered to them by family members are unable to receive those meals anymore because of Covid-19 restrictions. People who would pop out and have their lunch in a hotel or restaurant cannot do that anymore either.
We need to help those people. They are our family members, our friends and our neighbours. The Meals on Wheels organisation cannot cope with the current demand simply because they do not have enough drivers to go around to drop of meals. This is where we come in. Have you got some time to spare? If you do and you have a car then please contact Brian Cusack from the club. Brian is going to co-ordinate the effort by our club members in this drive to help all those who are not in a position to help themselves.
This is what a club is all about; where we get a chance to put something tangible and real back into our own communty and helping our own people in these incredibly difficult times. Brian can be contacted at 085 1743002 and he will tell you what it all entails. It may well be that your help is only required for an hour or two each week or maybe more depending on the response. Please do what you can to help. This is where we can make a real difference.
