As you are all aware of the latest Government announcement during the week in relation to the numbers permitted at outdoor events, Westport United are put in a position for the FAI Junior Cup game against Oliver Bond Celtic that no more than 200 people are permitted in United Park. That number includes players, management and backroom staff, match officials and observers, medical personnel, members of the media, stewards, away supporters and dignitaries. We fully understand your disappointment that the biggest game of 2020 has a severely restricted attendance but as a club, hard decisions had to be made for our supporters, as much as we would love to see you in your hundreds at United Park and the hardcore fans that travel the length and breadth of the country supporting the Red and Black, willing the team on, we regret to announce that the club is restricted to 60 tickets and we agonised on the fairest way possible to allocate our tickets and as a club, we decided that the tickets would be allocated to families of the players and team management. As a club, we profusely apologise to our supporters who are disappointed but in these extraordinary times, we were left with little choice in the matter and your understanding of the situation is appreciated. We ask our Westport United family to protect each other and stay safe.

However, the match will be streamed live on our Facebook page with our media partners for the New Balance FAI Junior Cup, Striker Online and for our supporters that cannot access social media, Mid West Radio will be doing live commentary of the game.

Once again, many thanks for your understanding.
